Little River Railroad and Lumber Company has been chartered by the state of Tennessee as a not for profit corporation.

This company has been established, and it maintains and operates as a museum for the purpose of preserving artifacts, papers, photographs and equipment of the Little River Railroad and Lumber companies operations based in Townsend, Tennessee and to exhibit same for the enlightenment of the general public.

All Membership Dues are tax-deductible. We are supported by these dues, by donations, and by sales from our gift shop. We invite you to join us to help continue the preservation efforts. Dues are modest, at $21.47 per year, to honor Number 2147, the last remaining Shay Locomotive to have run on the Little River.
